Rare Billy Gladstone Gold Lacquer Metal Snare Drum



Billy Gladstone made fifty snare drums.
Here is a truly rare piece. This drum represents a very historic find. The drum is an authentic Gladstone snare drum,the only metal drum he made.The entire drum was made by Gladstone in about 1952. The original name plate is engraved: Billy Gladstone Radio City Music Hall 1932 -50. The triangular badge is engraved:Billy Gladstone Pat.No.2132105 and Pat.No.2172578.The original three way drum key is engraved Billy Gladstone Pat.No.217578.The original screwdriver is still in place on the drum.The drum measures approximately 14 1/2" in diameter and 7 1/2" tall. Billy Gladstone was the featured percussionist at New York's Radio City Music Hall for 18 years after its opening in 1932. Billy Gladstone is most remembered for all the drums he made in the 1950's.His drums are considered the greatest drums that were ever made. This drum was purchased in New York City in 1962 .It is in great original condition.There is some clear lacquer loss ,crack at rim.
